In a major move to strengthen internal accountability and uphold professional standards, the Nigeria Police Force has commenced disciplinary proceedings against 151 senior officers. The affected officers are currently appearing before the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters in Abuja. The review process runs from Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 25, 2025.
The officers under scrutiny—ranging from Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) to higher ranks—were drawn from various commands and formations nationwide. They are facing allegations of misconduct, ethical violations, and breaches of professional conduct.
The Force Disciplinary Committee is responsible for reviewing such cases in line with police regulations and will make final recommendations to the Police Service Commission based on its findings. The process is expected to be transparent and in strict accordance with established disciplinary procedures.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has reiterated his commitment to instilling discipline and ethical values within the Force. He stated clearly that the Nigeria Police will not tolerate any form of indiscipline among its ranks.
This disciplinary exercise highlights the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing efforts to maintain public trust and build a more professional, accountable institution. According to the IGP, the integrity of the police system begins from within, and officers must adhere strictly to the rule of law and service standards.
The outcome of the review will be forwarded to the Police Service Commission for appropriate action.
