Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully disrupted a major gathering of suspected bandits in Taraba State, dealing a significant blow to criminal operations in the region.
The coordinated operation, carried out by ground forces under ongoing military counterinsurgency efforts, targeted a known hideout where armed groups were reportedly holding a strategic meeting. According to military sources, the troops stormed the location with precise intelligence, engaging the criminals and forcing them to flee.
In the aftermath of the operation, the troops destroyed several makeshift camps used by the bandits and recovered multiple items, including over a dozen motorcycles commonly used for raids and swift escapes. Arms and other logistics were also seized at the scene.
The operation is part of broader security efforts to restore peace and stability across Taraba and other parts of Nigeria’s North-East region, which have witnessed increased criminal activity in recent years.
Authorities say more tactical offensives are expected in the coming days as security agencies intensify surveillance and ground operations to dislodge criminal elements from their strongholds.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security personnel in support of ongoing efforts to rid the region of insecurity.
