Yobe PDP Denies Mass Defection to ADC, Declares Party Structure Intact

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) support groups in Yobe State have dismissed recent claims that the entire PDP structure in the state has defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), leaving only the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, behind.

Speaking during a press briefing and panel discussion in Damaturu, the Director of the PDP Support Groups in Yobe, Lawan Munkaila, reaffirmed that the party remains strong, united, and undivided across the state.

Munkaila clarified that the defection of former Minister of Police Affairs and two-time PDP governorship candidate, Adamu Maina Waziri, does not represent the stance or will of the broader PDP structure in Yobe. He emphasized that while Waziri benefited immensely from the PDP in the past, his exit will not destabilize the party.

“The PDP in Yobe is not dead, neither is it divided. The departure of Adamu Maina Waziri is actually a relief to the party, as it gives us a clearer focus and removes elements of betrayal from within,” Munkaila stated.

The support groups reiterated their commitment to rebuilding and strengthening the party ahead of future elections, stressing that the PDP remains a formidable force in Yobe State.
