FG Urges APC State Information Commissioners to Amplify Renewed Hope Agenda at Grassroots

The Federal Government has called on Information Commissioners from states governed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to intensify efforts in communicating the Renewed Hope Agenda to citizens, especially at the grassroots level.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the appeal while delivering a keynote address at the Conference of APC State Information Commissioners, organized by the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) in Minna, Niger State.

Describing the meeting as “timely and strategic,” Idris commended the PGF under the leadership of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, for sustaining the platform for policy collaboration. He also expressed appreciation to Niger State Governor Umaru Bago for hosting the event.

> “President Bola Tinubu didn’t come with slogans. He presented a practical Eight-Point Renewed Hope Agenda—focused on economic reform, infrastructure development, and inclusive growth,” the Minister stated.

Tinubu’s Key Achievements Highlighted

Minister Idris outlined major milestones recorded by the Tinubu-led administration in its first two years, including:

Removal of fuel subsidy and reinvestment in infrastructure projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Kaduna-Kano Standard Gauge Railway.

Over 900,000 beneficiaries reached through the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme.

₦1.5 trillion recapitalization of the Bank of Agriculture.

Launch of the Student Loan Scheme with over 300,000 enrollees.

Creation of two new ministries: Livestock Development and Marine and Blue Economy to stimulate job creation and sector growth.

The Minister also emphasized youth-focused initiatives such as the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme, Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), i-DICE innovation scheme, and the Creative Economy Development Fund offering grants up to $100,000.

> “These are not just numbers. They represent real opportunities for Nigerians. It’s our duty to communicate them clearly and ensure citizens know how to benefit,” Idris said.

He urged the commissioners to return to their respective states with a renewed commitment to deploy effective communication strategies, provide accurate information, and bridge the gap between federal initiatives and public understanding.

Strengthening National Orientation and Communication Systems

Minister Idris also disclosed that efforts are ongoing to modernize the country’s national communication systems, restructure the National Orientation Agency (NOA), and launch campaigns aligned with the Renewed Hope pillars.

> “We must ensure that the Renewed Hope message is not only heard—but also felt in every Nigerian community,” he stressed.

Declaring the conference open, Niger State Governor Umaru Bago, represented by Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman, noted that APC governors across the country are delivering impactful governance across sectors.

> “There’s a silent revolution happening—from education and health to agriculture and digital innovation. But this progress must be communicated strategically. Messaging is the oxygen of sustainable governance,” he said.

Governor Bago described Information Commissioners as “narrative architects” who play a vital role in building public trust and perception.

> “In Niger State, we’re building a New Niger through reforms and urban renewal. But just as important is our storytelling—so people not only witness change but also believe in and own it,” he added.

Niger State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Binta Mamman, described the conference as a valuable platform to counter misinformation, harmonize media strategies, and drive positive public discourse.

The event gathered media professionals, strategic communicators, and APC state officials to coordinate efforts in amplifying President Tinubu’s reform agenda and the broader APC governance framework.
