NAF Airstrikes Crush Bandit Convoy in Zamfara-Kebbi Axis, Dozens Neutralized

In a decisive counterterrorism operation, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully neutralized dozens of armed bandits during a coordinated air assault in the Zamfara-Kebbi border region. The precision airstrikes, conducted on July 9, 2025, were part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, targeting a large convoy of terrorists migrating through Yarbuga, located in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to military intelligence, nearly 150 motorcycles—each reportedly transporting two armed fighters—were observed in batches moving across the area. Upon confirmation of hostile elements, NAF aircraft launched a series of targeted strikes with high accuracy. Surveillance footage revealed terrorists fleeing on foot and motorcycles, prompting follow-up strikes that disrupted their escape routes.

A day later, on July 10, Nigerian Army troops launched a ground operation in Yarbuga village to assess the aftermath of the air raid. Troops recovered several weapons, the charred remains of terrorists, and dozens of burnt motorcycles, confirming the significant impact of the joint operation.

The success of the mission reinforces the Nigerian military’s commitment to eradicating banditry and insurgency across the Northwest. The operation also demonstrates the effectiveness of joint air-ground collaboration in degrading terrorist capabilities and securing civilian populations.

The Nigerian Air Force has reiterated its resolve to continue precision engagements and support ground forces in restoring peace and security across all troubled regions of the country.
