Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has officially announced the burial arrangements for Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday, July 14, 2025, in a London hospital.
Speaking during a press briefing in Katsina on Monday, Governor Radda disclosed that, after consultations with the late President’s family and close associates in London, the body of the former leader will be flown into Katsina on Tuesday, July 15, by 12:00 noon.
According to the governor, final rites and burial will take place in Daura, Buhari’s hometown, by 2:00 p.m. on the same day.
Governor Radda, speaking on behalf of the Katsina State Government and its people, extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late president, as well as to all Nigerians mourning the passing of a national figure.
A statement signed by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, confirmed that the Katsina State Government is working closely with federal authorities and the Buhari family to ensure a befitting and dignified farewell for the late elder statesman.
“We pray Almighty Allah grants his soul eternal rest and Aljannatul Firdaus,” Governor Radda said. “We also extend our sympathy to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the passing of his predecessor. May Allah give us the strength to bear this national loss.”
The late Muhammadu Buhari served as Nigeria’s military ruler from 1983 to 1985 and later returned as a democratically elected president, serving two terms from 2015 to 2023.
