A high-level presidential committee has arrived in Katsina State to coordinate preparations for the state burial of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari.
The committee, constituted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is tasked with overseeing the official funeral proceedings in collaboration with the Katsina State Government and the family of the late former president.
The delegation’s arrival marks the commencement of formal arrangements to honour the life and legacy of the former Nigerian leader. According to a statement from the presidency, the committee will ensure that the burial reflects the dignity and national respect befitting a former Head of State.
President Tinubu had earlier directed that the funeral arrangements be conducted with full state honours, acknowledging President Buhari’s service to the nation and his role in shaping Nigeria’s democratic journey.
Details of the funeral programme are expected to be released in the coming days, as the committee engages with relevant stakeholders, including traditional leaders, security agencies, and community representatives in Daura and across Katsina State.
The Federal Government also urged Nigerians to remain united in prayer and reflection during this period of national mourning, while paying tribute to the legacy of a man who, for decades, played a significant role in Nigeria’s political history.
