President Bola Tinubu has honoured the memory of the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata, describing him as a symbol of humility, integrity, and selfless service to Nigeria.
During a condolence visit to the Dantata family in Kano on Friday, President Tinubu praised the renowned businessman and philanthropist for living a life dedicated to compassion, charity, and national development.
Alhaji Dantata passed away in Dubai on June 28, 2025, at the age of 94. He was laid to rest in Medina, Saudi Arabia, on July 1, 2025.
“This is a personal loss for me,” President Tinubu said. “He wasn’t just a respected elder; he was part of my family. I came here to console the Dantata family and the people of Kano.”
The President recalled how Alhaji Dantata offered him spiritual guidance and prayers during the 2023 presidential election campaign. “He was kind, sincere, and supportive. I promised to return to thank him, but sadly, he passed before I could.”
President Tinubu described the late elder statesman as “a man who gave his all to humanity” and prayed that Allah grants him eternal peace in Aljannah Firdaus.
He also extended condolences to the Dantata family, the people of Kano State, and the entire country.
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf thanked the President for his visit, noting that Tinubu had earlier sent Vice President Kashim Shettima and a federal delegation to condole with the family. He appreciated the President’s role in facilitating the funeral arrangements in Saudi Arabia.
“We are grateful for your support, leadership, and personal involvement during this time of mourning,” Governor Yusuf said.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the eldest son, Alhaji Tajudeen Aminu Dantata, expressed deep appreciation for the President’s visit.
“You have shown us love and respect. Even before your presidency, we saw your closeness with our father. In his death, you have honoured that bond,” he said, promising to uphold the values of their late patriarch.
Among the President’s entourage were Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Ministers, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and other dignitaries including Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, and Alhaji Mohammed Indimi.
