GP Hosts National Defence College Commandant, Reaffirms Commitment to Technology-Driven Policing

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to adopting emerging technologies for enhanced internal security. He made this known while hosting the Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC), Rear Admiral J.O. Okosun, alongside Course 33 participants at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The delegation included top-ranking officers such as Deputy Commandant Major General K.O. Ukandu, NDC faculty members, and senior police officers. The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a research paper titled:
“Emerging Technologies and Internal Security: Strategic Options for the Nigeria Police Force by 2035.”

Presenting on behalf of the NPF participants, Deputy Commissioner of Police D.B. Lamba outlined a strategic roadmap for integrating technology into police operations. The plan proposes gradual reforms across institutional, legal, infrastructure, and human resource areas to modernize policing by 2035.

Rear Admiral Okosun commended the Nigeria Police for embracing future-forward strategies. He highlighted the long-standing partnership between the NDC and the Nigeria Police Force and encouraged continued collaboration in tackling internal security challenges.

In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun congratulated the NDC Commandant on his appointment and praised the depth of research presented by the police participants. He stressed the importance of innovation in law enforcement, stating that modern, tech-based strategies are essential to combating crime and securing the country.

The IGP assured that the recommendations from the research would be considered in the ongoing police reform and modernization efforts aimed at building a safer, more responsive Nigeria.
