Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, has congratulated Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda on his emergence as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He described the appointment as a strategic move that will strengthen party unity and foster internal cohesion.

Prof. Yilwatda officially succeeded Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who stepped down as APC National Chairman on June 27, 2025. Until his elevation, Yilwatda served as Nigeria’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.

Speaking at the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, Speaker Abbas noted that Prof. Yilwatda’s adoption as chairman was conducted “under the guidance of President Bola Tinubu.” He emphasized that Yilwatda’s leadership, coming from the North-Central geopolitical zone, will further reinforce balance, inclusivity, and strategic alignment within the ruling party.

Abbas commended the APC for ensuring a seamless transition of leadership, applauding President Tinubu’s role in fortifying the party’s position as a dominant force in Nigeria’s political landscape.

He called on the new APC Chairman to focus on uniting all party structures, organs, and caucuses in preparation for future elections. According to Abbas, a united APC remains key to sustaining progressive governance and delivering on the Renewed Hope agenda for Nigerians.

The Speaker concluded by offering prayers for Prof. Yilwatda’s success, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the party towards greater victories.
