The Zamfara State Government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to enhancing the welfare and security of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state.

Governor Dauda Lawal, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Nasiru Galadima Kaura, made this known during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Gusau on Friday.

Governor Lawal announced the resumption of state allowance payments to corps members, alongside special incentives for corps medical personnel, emphasizing that these efforts are part of his administration’s broader agenda to uplift the welfare of corps members serving in Zamfara.

“The welfare and security of corps members remain a top priority for my administration,” Governor Lawal assured. “We are fully dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment throughout your service year, ensuring that you are motivated to contribute meaningfully to the development of the communities where you are posted.”

The Governor urged the new corps members to exhibit passion, integrity, and dedication during their service, stressing the importance of making a positive impact in their host communities.

Speaking at the event, the NYSC Zamfara State Coordinator, Mallam Muhammad Lawan Ahmed, highlighted that the three-week orientation program will focus on physical drills, leadership development, skills acquisition, and familiarization with the culture and traditions of Zamfara State.

He encouraged corps members to take the training seriously as it is crucial to their personal development and the success of their service year.

Mallam Ahmed also expressed deep appreciation to Governor Lawal for reinstating the payment of state allowances after a long suspension, describing it as a significant morale booster for corps members. He, however, appealed to the state government for a larger orientation camp facility to accommodate the growing number of corps members deployed to Zamfara.

The swearing-in ceremony saw a total of 554 corps members officially inducted, with the oath of allegiance administered by the Chief Judge of Zamfara State, represented by Deputy Chief Registrar, Aishatu Jibrin.

The Zamfara State Government’s renewed commitment to corps members’ welfare and security is seen as a significant step towards encouraging national integration and youth participation in grassroots development.
