Gov Fintiri Rewards Super Falcons Coach Justine Madugu with House, ₦50 Million for WAFCON Victory
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has honoured Super Falcons Coach, Justine Madugu, with a three-bedroom bungalow and a cash gift of ₦50 million in recognition of his role in Nigeria’s triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Coach Madugu, who hails from Adamawa State, was warmly received at the Yola International Airport by state officials, sports enthusiasts, and members of the Bwatiye community. The atmosphere was celebratory as he was decorated with traditional Bwatiye attire, marking a proud homecoming for the coach who began his football career in Adamawa.
During a reception at the Government House, Governor Fintiri praised Madugu’s leadership and resilience, highlighting his journey from grassroots football in Adamawa to national recognition. The Governor emphasized that Madugu’s success story is a reflection of the state’s rich sports potential and his administration’s commitment to promoting sports development.
> “Justine Madugu has not only made Adamawa proud but has also demonstrated the power of dedication and excellence. His leadership at the Women’s AFCON is an inspiration to our youth,” Governor Fintiri stated.
In his response, Coach Madugu expressed gratitude to the Governor and the people of Adamawa for their support. He commended the state government’s investment in sports infrastructure and development, urging continued encouragement for young women aspiring to excel in sports.
> “This victory belongs to all Nigerians, and it started with the support from my home state. We must continue to create opportunities for young talents, especially our girls, to thrive in sports,” Madugu said.
A community leader, James Iliya, also lauded Madugu’s achievements, encouraging young people to consider sports as a viable career path that brings honour and fulfilment. He described Madugu’s recognition as a motivation for future generations in the state.
The event concluded with festivities as the Bwatiye community, sports stakeholders, and various interest groups celebrated Madugu’s success, marking a significant moment in Adamawa’s sporting history.
