The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that it deployed military personnel to intimidate voters and party agents during the Kaura Namoda South State Assembly by-election.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the APC described the allegations as a desperate move by the PDP to cover up what it termed a looming electoral defeat in the constituency.
Addressing journalists in Gusau, Zamfara APC Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris, said the opposition’s claims were unfounded, stressing that security operatives were only deployed to maintain law and order and to prevent electoral malpractice by political thugs.
Mediaplusng.com reports that Idris further accused the PDP of attempting to smear the reputation of security agencies in a bid to discredit the electoral process.
The APC maintained that residents of Kaura Namoda South turned out in large numbers to support its candidate, adding that the party’s performance reflects its popularity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Although the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the election inconclusive, the APC insists that the results so far show a clear rejection of the PDP in Zamfara State.
