President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says his administration’s bold economic reforms are paying off, making Nigeria more respected on the global stage.
The President stated this on Tuesday at the State House in Abuja while receiving the Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Oladunni Olaoye, Orumogege III, alongside other royal fathers. According to Mediaplusng.com, Tinubu noted that Nigeria’s economy is stabilizing after years of challenges caused by corruption, smuggling, fake records, and currency arbitrage.
The President said: “With your prayers, patience, perseverance, and understanding, I’m glad to tell you today that the economy is stabilised. The bleeding has stopped. Haemorrhage is gone; the patient is alive.” He added that the creation of NELFUND was to ensure that no student drops out of school due to poverty, describing education as the strongest tool against poverty.
According to Mediaplusng.com, Tinubu promised to engage the Ministers of Power, Water Resources, Agriculture, and Works to address the concerns raised by the monarch. He stressed that with the right actions, Nigeria could achieve self-sufficiency in agriculture and infrastructure development.
The Soun of Ogbomoso praised the President for taking bold steps such as the removal of fuel subsidy and reforms in the foreign exchange market. He also commended the award of the long-delayed dualization of the Oyo-Ogbomosho Road, describing it as a project that will boost economic activities in the region.
Oba Olaoye urged the Federal Government to upgrade Ogbomoso General Hospital into a Federal Medical Centre, improve power and water supply, and establish a research institute to promote the processing of mangoes and cashew nuts from Ogbomoso into globally viable products.
The monarch also thanked President Tinubu for appointing sons of Ogbomoso into key federal positions, including the Chairman of FIRS, Zacch Adedeji, and the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Debo Adedokun.
The event was attended by five other traditional rulers from Ogbomosoland, community leaders, and presidential aides, including Chief Sunday Dare, Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication.
