Plateau Governor Mutfwang Commissions Ultra-Modern JMDB Market in Bukuru

Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has officially commissioned the newly built JMDB Market in Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area. The project is part of his administration’s Greater Jos Master Plan designed to modernize markets, strengthen the local economy, and empower women and youth traders.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the state-of-the-art facility has the capacity to accommodate more than 2,000 traders. The market features 165 shops, warehouses, kiosks, 116 stalls, and open spaces for hawkers. It also includes a motor park and parking lot to improve accessibility for both traders and customers.

Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Mutfwang said the market reflects his vision of building safe, functional, and sustainable trading spaces across Plateau. He assured that his administration would continue to invest in infrastructure projects that expand economic opportunities for small businesses, women, and young entrepreneurs.

Mediaplusng.com reports that the commissioning ceremony was attended by government officials, stakeholders, and representatives of the traders’ union. Market women expressed gratitude to the governor for keeping his promise but appealed for more financial support to stabilize their businesses.

The governor further revealed that other major markets, including Kugiya, Maraban Jama’a, and the Jos Main Market, will soon undergo reconstruction. He emphasized that these projects are part of wider efforts to reposition Plateau State as a leading commercial hub in Northern Nigeria.
