Thousands of loyalists of former Zamfara Central Senator, Kabiru Marafa, have publicly rejected his decision to quit the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring their continued loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling party.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the development marks a major blow to Marafa’s political influence in Zamfara State, as many of his core supporters say they are disappointed with his move to leave the APC.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Abdulkadir Mijinyawa, former Administrative Secretary of Marafa’s APC structure in Zamfara, explained that the loyalists have resolved to remain in the ruling party. He said their focus is now on supporting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthening APC’s position in the state.
Mediaplusng.com reports that Mijinyawa stressed that most of Marafa’s followers are unwilling to follow him into another political party, insisting that their commitment to the APC is unshaken. “We supported him because he was in the APC. Now that he has left, we will not leave the party with him,” he stated.
Senator Marafa had earlier announced his resignation from the APC, citing neglect, injustice, and rising insecurity in Zamfara. He also accused the party of deliberately marginalizing the state despite its huge contribution to APC’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.
