The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will on Monday, September 29, 2025, swear in 57 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs). The swearing-in ceremony is part of events to officially mark the beginning of the 2025/2026 legal year of the Supreme Court.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the event will hold at the Main Courtroom of the Apex Court in Abuja. The CJN is also expected to deliver the traditional State of the Judiciary address, highlighting the Court’s performance in the 2024/2025 legal year and setting the tone for the year ahead.
The Court’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Festus Akande, confirmed the development in a statement. He explained that during the special session, stakeholders in the justice sector will also present speeches on the state of the judiciary and legal reforms.
Mediaplusng.com reports that key figures expected to deliver remarks include the Attorney General of the Federation, the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), among others.
All activities lined up to open the new legal year are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Supreme Court.
