PSC Approves Whistle-Blowing Policy to Curb Police Recruitment Malpractices

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has introduced a new Whistle-Blowing Policy to fight corruption and malpractice in the recruitment of officers into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). According to the Commission, the initiative is designed to make recruitment fair, transparent, and merit-based. The PSC explained that the policy aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on national security, rule of law, and anti-corruption. It stressed that a credible and professional police force is key to building trust and safeguarding the nation. By reporting malpractices, Nigerians will directly contribute to a safer country. Nigerians are urged to report activities such as bribery in exchange for recruitment slots, manipulation of test results, falsification of credentials, sexual harassment, ghost candidates, impersonation, or any unethical conduct by officials or middlemen. Reports can be made through dedicated phone lines, SMS, or email, with assurances that whistle-blowers’ identities will be protected. The PSC has emphasized that all credible complaints will be investigated thoroughly and action taken against offenders. (Mediaplusng.com confirms)

The Commission reassured Nigerians that whistle-blowers will be safeguarded against victimisation or retaliation under Nigerian law. It called on citizens to show courage by reporting wrongdoing, saying their actions can help build a more professional police force. The PSC insists that transparency in recruitment is vital to restoring public trust in the Nigeria Police. (Mediaplusng.com highlights)
