President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent his condolences to the government and people of Kogi State following the tragic boat accident in Ibaji Local Government Area, which claimed several lives on Tuesday.
According to reports, the victims were traders traveling from Ibaji, Kogi State, to the Ilushi market in Edo State when the mishap occurred. President Tinubu described the incident as “shocking and unfortunate,” noting that the victims were only pursuing their legitimate means of livelihood.
The President commended first responders for their swift action at the accident scene and directed federal, state, and local emergency agencies to intensify efforts in supporting the survivors and families of the deceased. He also urged operators of water transportation to place safety above profit in their daily operations.
President Tinubu prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
