The Abuja-Kaduna Train Service is back in operation following the successful repair of the damaged track near Assam Station, which caused a derailment on August 26, 2025.
In a statement signed by the Chief Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Mr. Callistus Unyimadu, the Corporation announced that every Wednesday has now been set aside for routine maintenance of the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service. This move, according to NRC, is to ensure improved safety and reliability of train operations along the busy corridor. Mediaplusng.com reports that the service is one of the most patronized railway routes in Nigeria.
The NRC further stated that it remains fully committed to providing safe, affordable, efficient, and customer-friendly train transportation across the country. With the resumption of the Abuja-Kaduna route, passengers are assured of enhanced security and better service delivery. According to Mediaplusng.com, the Corporation also urged travelers to always plan their trips with the new maintenance schedule in mind.
