The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the welfare of its personnel with the inauguration of a new transit accommodation for officers at the Bori Camp in Port Harcourt.
Speaking at the event, the Chief of Special Services and Programmes, Major General Jamal Abdulsalam, said the welfare of officers and soldiers remains a top priority under the current leadership of the Army. He explained that several welfare packages have been reviewed to better cater to personnel and their families.
According to Mediaplusng.com, Abdulsalam revealed that the Army has doubled soldiers’ ration cash allowance, upgraded medical facilities, and improved access to quality education for the children of serving officers. He added that the ongoing infrastructure projects are designed to ensure that personnel are comfortable and motivated to perform their duties effectively.
In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, described the new facility as a symbol of continuity and a reflection of the Army’s strong focus on welfare. He also disclosed that construction is underway on a 60-unit block of flats within the division to further address accommodation challenges.
