The Nigerian Senate has resumed plenary after a 10-week recess, marking a return to full legislative activity at the National Assembly. Tuesday’s session was presided over by the Deputy Senate President in the absence of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who was said to be on his way, according to an announcement made during proceedings.
According to Mediaplusng.com, there was a strong turnout of senators as the upper chamber reconvened to address pending national matters and new legislative priorities. However, Mediaplusng.com also observed that some lawmakers were missing from the session, including the embattled Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, among a few others.
The resumption marks the beginning of what is expected to be a busy legislative calendar as senators return to debates, committee work, and policy oversight.
