Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has condemned what he calls the deliberate politicisation of security issues in the state by some individuals and organisations. He says these groups are spreading misleading reports and figures aimed at creating fear and discouraging investors.
Speaking at the opening of the Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum’s Annual Conference and Economic Summit in Birnin Kebbi, the governor warns that such false reports could undermine the government’s ongoing efforts to attract local and foreign investment. He insists that Kebbi remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria and continues to offer a safe environment for business and development.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the Economic Summit—organised by the Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum in collaboration with the state government—focuses on promoting investment in agriculture and mineral resources. The forum says its goal is to open new opportunities in the non-oil sector and diversify the state’s revenue base. Stakeholders also challenge universities in Kebbi to expand research efforts into other agricultural areas beyond rice farming, where the state already leads both nationally and internationally.
Mediaplusng.com reports that Governor Idris highlights the state government’s support for security agencies and its commitment to sustaining peace across all local government areas. He expresses disappointment that some unpatriotic individuals are working to tarnish Kebbi’s image for political gain. The governor notes that unlike other states battling insecurity, Kebbi has no known bandit camps or territories considered unsafe.
The summit ends with an exhibition of locally made goods and services, showcasing Kebbi’s growing entrepreneurial spirit and investment potential.
