The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially expelled its suspended National Chairman, Shehu Gabam, over alleged financial misconduct and misappropriation of party funds. The decision comes amid growing internal tension within the party’s leadership.
According to a statement released by the National Publicity Secretary, Araba Aiyenigba, the party also expelled its National Auditor, Nnadi Clarkson, and National Youth Leader, Chukwuma Uchechukwu, who were earlier suspended over similar allegations. The statement said the action followed an extensive review of their conduct and the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
Mediaplusng.com reports that the SDP leadership has reaffirmed its resolve to uphold integrity and discipline among its members, stressing that no individual, regardless of position, is above the party’s constitution. The party emphasized that the expulsion was necessary to restore public confidence and ensure proper financial management within the organization.
In a follow-up statement obtained by Mediaplusng.com, the SDP urged members and supporters to remain calm and committed to the ideals of the party, assuring that ongoing reforms will strengthen internal democracy and promote a more transparent leadership structure.
The development marks another phase in the SDP’s internal restructuring, as the party positions itself ahead of future political engagements and national elections.
