President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a major shake-up in Nigeria’s military leadership as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s national security framework. According to Mediaplusng.com, General Olufemi Oluyede has been appointed as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa. The new Chief of Army Staff is Major-General W. Shaibu, while Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke takes over as the Chief of Air Staff. In the Navy, Rear Admiral I. Abbas assumes the role of Chief of Naval Staff. The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.
President Tinubu, who serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expressed deep appreciation to the outgoing Service Chiefs for their selfless and patriotic service to the nation. He commended them for their dedication and leadership in safeguarding the country during their tenure.
