American rapper Nicki Minaj has praised U.S. President Donald Trump for redesignating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) over alleged widespread persecution of Christians.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the announcement was made on Friday by President Trump, who cited reports of a Christian genocide and persistent extremist attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria. The decision, he said, aims to draw attention to ongoing religious violence and promote global accountability.
Reacting via her official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Minaj expressed deep gratitude for the freedom of worship enjoyed in the United States. She emphasized that no one should suffer discrimination or persecution because of their faith.
She wrote, “Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order to respect each other.”
As Mediaplusng.com reports, Minaj also urged global awareness of religious oppression and encouraged her followers to pray for persecuted Christians across the world.
She added, “Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror, and it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice. Thank you to the President and his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”
The U.S. Department of State describes a Country of Particular Concern as one that tolerates or engages in serious violations of religious freedom. Nigeria was first listed as a CPC in 2020 under Trump’s administration but was later removed by President Joe Biden in 2021.
