Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting young innovators and transforming the state into a hub for technology and digital creativity.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the Governor expressed delight over the growing number of young Kwarans making waves in technology, particularly at the recently concluded Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme, themed “Kwara Futures: Empowering a Digitally Ready Generation.” The event, held under the Kwara Futures Exhibition 2025, showcased outstanding digital innovations from students across the state.
The digital programme was organised by the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Innovation, led by Hon. Kayode Ishola. Governor AbdulRazaq noted that the initiative is part of a broader plan to position Kwara on the global technology map by fostering collaboration with international tech accelerators and unlocking cross-border investment opportunities.
He described the progress as a major milestone that demonstrates how creativity is pushing young Kwarans from local innovators to international players. “This achievement is not just a number—it’s proof that our young people are ready to take on the world through innovation and digital skills,” he said.
Speaking with Mediaplusng.com, Hon. Kayode Ishola explained that the initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and prepare the next generation for a technology-driven world. Between August 2024 and October 2025, his office trained over 5,600 students across 50 public secondary schools, engaging more than 120 instructors, including NYSC members, digital volunteers, and ICT teachers.
During the exhibition, students presented creative projects such as the Smart School Attendance System, Universal Report Card Generator, Weather Forecast App, Python-Based Banking Simulation Project, Expense Visualizer, Web Dictionary App, and the Igbaja Farm Expense Tracker (IFET) App.
United Junior Secondary School, Ilorin, emerged overall winner with the highest points, receiving a ₦1 million cash prize. Ilorin Grammar School (IGS) took the first runner-up position with ₦500,000, while Government Girls’ Day Secondary School, Pakata, came third, earning ₦250,000.
Governor AbdulRazaq praised the participants for their innovation and hard work, adding that the state government will continue to invest in young people to make Kwara a digital powerhouse in Nigeria.
