The Federal Government reiterates its commitment to strengthen school safety and protect learning environments across Nigeria, especially in communities facing security threats.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, expresses deep sadness over the tragic attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi. Mediaplusng.com reports that armed men stormed the school, killed a teacher, and abducted at least 25 students during the Monday night invasion.
In a statement, the minister describes the incident as “heartbreaking,” offering condolences to the families of the victims, the school community, and the entire people of Kebbi State. He says no parent should ever face such horror, and no teacher should lose their life in the line of duty.
Alausa condemns the attack as a “cruel and senseless act,” describing it as not just violence against children and educators, but a direct attack on Nigeria’s future. According to Mediaplusng.com, the minister confirms that the Federal Ministry of Education is working with security and intelligence agencies, along with the Kebbi State Government, to rescue the abducted students and bring the perpetrators to justice.
He adds that this painful incident strengthens the government’s determination to protect all schools.
“Our children deserve to learn in safety. Our teachers deserve to serve without fear. We will not relent until every school in Nigeria becomes a place of protection and hope,” he says.
