Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris is urging President Bola Tinubu to review Nigeria’s security architecture following the abduction of schoolgirls in Maga. He says recent developments show that enemies of the nation are trying to undermine the democracy Nigerians currently enjoy.
According to Mediaplusng.com, Governor Idris makes the call while receiving the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi. The Speaker and his delegation are in the state to commiserate with the government and people of Kebbi after the attack.
During the visit, Speaker Abbas condemns the abduction and appeals to the Governor to immortalize the late Vice Principal by naming the school after him. He also announces a donation of ₦20 million to the family of the late Vice Principal and ₦10 million to the family of the watchman who was killed in the incident.
Mediaplusng.com reports that Governor Idris appreciates the visit and insists he is still expecting answers from the military regarding the security lapses that enabled the attack. He explains that although his earlier remarks may have upset some individuals, he has a duty to inform the public, especially since the state government continues to support security agencies.
The Governor finally agrees to rename Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, after the late Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Makuku.
