The Nasarawa State Police Command has dismissed reports circulating online claiming that herdsmen attacked Agboda Village and disrupted a religious crusade. The Command said the viral publication titled “Panic as Herdsmen Disrupt Nasarawa Crusade, Forcing Worshippers to Flee” is false and misleading.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the police confirmed that no herdsmen attack occurred anywhere in the state. The video shared on social media, they said, does not represent the true situation in Agboda Village and is a complete distortion of facts.
Preliminary investigations showed that the real incident happened on 24 November 2025 at about 7:00 p.m. A motorcyclist was attacked by unknown criminals on a feeder road leading into the community. The victim sustained a machete wound, and his motorcycle was stolen by the attackers.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Mararaba Udege quickly mobilised vigilantes and officers to the scene. Their swift response forced the suspects to abandon the stolen motorcycle and escape. The victim was taken to the hospital and is responding to treatment, while the recovered motorcycle is now in police custody.
Mediaplusng.com also reports that Daniel Ukpo, the individual who recorded and circulated the viral video, has been arrested. During questioning, he admitted that there was no herdsmen attack and no disruption of any crusade. He explained that residents had gathered at the scene of the robbery, and he recorded the video without understanding the full details, which later led to misinterpretations online.
The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, urged religious leaders to promote peace and avoid statements that could inflame tension. He also appealed to journalists and the public to verify information before publishing or sharing it to avoid causing unnecessary panic in the state.
The Command reassured residents of its strong commitment to protecting lives and property and encouraged the public to report suspicious activities through the appropriate channels
