Tinubu Approves Nigerian Team for Nigeria–US Joint Security Working Group

President Bola Tinubu approves the Nigerian membership of the Nigeria–US Joint Working Group, a key step to strengthen security cooperation between both countries. Mediaplusng.com reports that the move follows agreements reached during the recent high-level visit to Washington, DC, led by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu.

According to a statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, NSA Nuhu Ribadu will lead the Nigerian side of the Joint Working Group. He will work with a multi-agency team made up of senior officials from major security and government institutions.

Mediaplusng.com also notes that the group includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Bernard Doro; Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Amb. Mohammed Mohammed; and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Ms. Idayat Hassan of ONSA and Paul Alabi of the Nigerian Embassy in the US will serve as the secretariat.

President Tinubu urges the team to work closely with their US counterparts to ensure smooth implementation of all agreements, especially in key national security sectors.
