PDP Rejects Tinubu’s Ambassadorial List, Calls It Scandalous and Damaging to Nigeria’s Image

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) strongly rejects President Bola Tinubu’s newly submitted ambassadorial list, describing it as scandalous, disappointing, and a reflection of poor presidential judgment.

Mediaplusng.com reports that the PDP accuses the President of nominating individuals with controversial reputations, including politicians and former officials widely viewed by Nigerians and the international community as lacking integrity and moral credibility. According to the PDP, the list undermines Nigeria’s diplomatic reputation and exposes the administration’s value system.

In a statement by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the party states that the nominations confirm what Nigerians already suspect about the administration’s pattern of governance. The PDP argues that the quality of ambassadors reflects the values of the President, and the nominees chosen after nearly three years in office show a “scarcity of credible individuals” within the administration’s circle.

Mediaplusng.com adds that the PDP expresses deep disappointment over the nomination of former INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, accusing him of inconsistent leadership and electoral failures that, according to the PDP, contributed to the current government’s emergence. The party calls the appointment a “reward for incompetence” and warns that it may influence the new INEC leadership ahead of the 2027 elections.

The PDP insists that a nation’s global respect is tied to the integrity of its leaders and diplomats. Sending individuals with tainted public profiles, it says, poses a risk to Nigeria’s international image and diplomatic relations.

The party demands that President Tinubu withdraw the list and present new nominees with strong democratic credentials, integrity, and the capacity to earn respect on the global stage.
