The Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State, achieves a major milestone as it holds its first combined convocation for graduates of Regular Courses 1 to 6 and cadets of Regular Course 7. The ceremony marks the academy’s full transition into a degree-awarding institution.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the convocation confirms the academy’s recognition as Nigeria’s 37th federal university and the 124th university in the country. The event brings together officials, cadets, families, and dignitaries to celebrate the academy’s progress since its upgrade in 2013.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, officially declares the ceremony open. Mediaplusng.com reports that the minister describes the event as historic, emphasizing that the institution has already produced 3,698 graduates across various faculties.
The Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick Adedeji Atayero, urges the newly commissioned officers to uphold excellence, discipline, and national service as they begin their careers in the Nigeria Police Force. Stakeholders—including security experts, academic leaders, and parents—commend the academy for improving training quality through its university structure.
The maiden convocation is expected to strengthen public confidence in the academy’s ability to produce well-trained, disciplined, and professional officers who can contribute to national development.
