Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, congratulates former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, on his nomination as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the governor describes the appointment as a strategic and well-deserved choice, following the resignation of former Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar. He thanks President Tinubu for assigning General Musa a critical national responsibility at a time Nigeria continues to confront serious security challenges.

Governor Mutfwang says General Musa remains one of Nigeria’s most courageous and competent military officers, noting his dedication to peace, unity and national cohesion. He expresses confidence that the retired CDS will bring fresh energy, clarity of purpose and effective strategy to the nation’s fight against terrorism, banditry and violent crimes.

Mediaplusng.com highlights the governor’s tribute to General Musa’s distinguished career, including key roles such as Deputy Chief of Staff (Training/Operations), Commander Sector 3 of Operation Lafiya Dole, Commander Sector 3 of the Multinational Joint Task Force in the Lake Chad region, and Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai in 2021. General Musa later became Commander of the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps before President Tinubu appointed him Chief of Defence Staff in 2023.

Governor Mutfwang says General Musa’s nomination as Defence Minister is “a round peg in a round hole,” reflecting years of sacrifice, discipline and professional excellence. He expresses strong belief that General Musa will not disappoint the President or Nigerians and calls for collective support to strengthen national security.

On behalf of his family and the people of Plateau State, the governor sends his warm congratulations and prays for God’s wisdom, strength and good health for General Musa as he begins a new phase of national service.
