The National Economic Council (NEC) approves N100 billion for the rehabilitation of training institutions for the police and other security agencies across Nigeria. The approval is subject to final confirmation by President Bola Tinubu.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the decision follows recommendations from an ad-hoc committee set up to inspect the condition of security training facilities nationwide. NEC also endorses N2.6 billion for consultancy services to support the project.

At the 154th virtual NEC meeting chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, members review earlier proposals presented at the 152nd meeting, where President Tinubu called for an overhaul of all security training centres. Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, who heads the ad-hoc committee, reports that most facilities are in poor and unacceptable condition.

Mediaplusng.com notes that Vice President Shettima reaffirms the government’s commitment to restoring these institutions. He also urges state governors to ensure economic reforms deliver visible, practical improvements in the lives of Nigerians.

Shettima stresses that governance must now be measured by real outcomes, not promises. He says the focus should move from rhetoric to execution, adding that Nigeria must build a system where public policies translate into results felt in markets, schools, clinics, and farms nationwide.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday swears in five new permanent secretaries and the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Aminu Yusuf, during the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
