The United Nations is reminding the world that abuse comes in many forms — and is not always physical. Emotional, financial and psychological violence continue to affect millions of women and girls globally, often in silence and without support. According to Mediaplusng.com, the annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign is a call for everyone to take responsibility in ending these harms.

The campaign encourages individuals, families, communities and institutions to reflect on how they can help protect women and girls. Mediaplusng.com reports that advocates are urging the public to stand against discrimination, speak out against harmful behaviours, and create safe environments where survivors are heard and supported.

As the campaign gets underway, the UN highlights three urgent steps for the public:
📣 Speak out to break the cycle of abuse
⚖️ Support survivors and defend their right to justice
❌ Reject victim blaming in all forms

The UN says real change starts with awareness, empathy and action. Everyone has a role in ending gender-based violence.
