The Authority Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Engr. Farouk Ahmed, has denied issuing any public response to recent allegations made against him, describing a circulating statement attributed to him as false and misleading.

In a clarification issued on Monday, Ahmed says the alleged response did not come from him and should be disregarded. He notes that while he is aware of the claims and the public attention surrounding them, he deliberately chooses not to engage in public exchanges, Mediaplusng.com reports.

The NMDPRA boss explains that as a regulator overseeing a sensitive sector, he considers it inappropriate to trade words in the media. He adds that the allegations, which he describes as wild and spurious, also involve members of his family and have been sensationalised beyond the facts.

Ahmed further states that the individual behind the allegations has submitted the matter to a formal investigative body, a step he welcomes. According to him, this process will allow the issues to be examined objectively and thoroughly, Mediaplusng.com reports.

He expresses confidence that the investigation will provide an opportunity to establish the truth and clear his name without resorting to public confrontation or speculation.

The NMDPRA chief reiterates his commitment to professionalism, transparency, and due process, assuring the public that he remains focused on his responsibilities and will continue to cooperate fully with relevant authorities.

Ahmed urges the public and media organisations to rely on verified information from credible sources and avoid spreading unconfirmed statements that could mislead the public.

He maintains that accountability and institutional processes remain the proper channels for resolving allegations, especially in matters affecting public trust and national regulatory institutions.
