The All Progressives Congress (APC) sets January 30, 2026, as the deadline for all party members to complete compulsory electronic membership registration nationwide. The party says the exercise is mandatory and will determine participation in future congresses and internal activities.
The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yelwatda, announces the ultimatum at the 14th National Caucus meeting of the party held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, Mediaplusng.com reports. The meeting draws top party leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, leaders of the National Assembly, and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Professor Yelwatda explains that the electronic registration system is already active and undergoing nationwide rollout. He says the initiative is designed to strengthen transparency, improve data integrity, and deepen internal democracy within the ruling party.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the APC chairman urges party leaders at all levels to fully support the registration process. He says training has been conducted at state, zonal, and local government levels to ensure a smooth and inclusive exercise across the country.
The caucus meeting is attended by APC governors from different states, including recent defectors, as well as former governors and other key party stakeholders. Party leaders describe the turnout as a show of unity and growing confidence in the APC’s internal reforms.
Yelwatda reassures new members that they enjoy full rights and privileges within the party. He encourages both old and new members to use the registration window to enroll their supporters and update their records on the party’s digital platform.
He stresses that the electronic membership register will serve as the official database for future party activities, including ward, local government, state, and national congresses. According to him, only registered members will be eligible to participate in these processes.
The APC chairman adds that the shift to a digital system will help the party eliminate duplication, resolve membership disputes, and build a credible internal structure ahead of future elections.
As the January 30 deadline approaches, the APC leadership calls on members nationwide to comply fully with the directive, warning that failure to register electronically could affect their standing and participation within the party.
