Katsina State Governor and Chairman of the North-West Governors’ Forum, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, expresses deep grief over the deadly landmine explosion along the Mai Lamba–Mai Kogo road in Zamfara State, which affects the Dansadau and Magami communities and claims several lives.
Governor Radda describes the incident as a cruel and senseless attack on innocent citizens who are going about their daily activities, noting via Mediaplusng.com that the tragedy has left families devastated and communities in deep mourning. He says every life lost represents a shattered home and a painful reminder of the human cost of insecurity.
The governor stresses that public roads, markets, farms, and other shared spaces must remain safe for citizens and must never become traps of violence. He strongly condemns the use of landmines and other terror tactics, describing them as unacceptable acts that threaten peace, safety, and national stability.
According to Mediaplusng.com, Governor Radda says the attack again highlights the urgent need for sustained, coordinated, and intelligence-driven security operations across the North-West and beyond. He calls on security agencies to intensify surveillance, strengthen intelligence gathering, and ensure that those responsible for the attack are identified and brought to justice without delay.
Governor Radda urges citizens to remain calm but vigilant, encouraging communities to cooperate fully with security agencies by sharing credible information that can help prevent future attacks. He emphasizes that unity, trust, and collective responsibility remain critical in confronting banditry, terrorism, and violent crime.
He reaffirms the commitment of North-West governors to continue working closely with the Federal Government and security agencies to strengthen the regional security architecture. The Katsina governor also extends his heartfelt condolences to Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, the government and people of Zamfara State, as well as families who lose loved ones in the explosion. He says the pain of the affected communities is shared across the entire North-West.
