NAF Neutralises 2,351 Terrorists in 2025, Records Major Operational Gains Nationwide

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) records significant operational successes in 2025, neutralising at least 2,351 terrorists through sustained and intelligence-driven air operations across the country. The achievements follow 274 air interdiction missions executed in 379 combat sorties, targeting terrorist camps, logistics routes, training bases, and mobility corridors in several conflict zones.

According to details obtained by Mediaplusng.com, the operations span the North-East, North-West, and North-Central regions, where precision air strikes disrupt supply lines, degrade command structures, and deny terrorist groups freedom of movement. The air interdiction missions alone log about 800 flight hours, highlighting the Air Force’s expanded reach, endurance, and operational dominance, alongside hundreds of additional surveillance, reconnaissance, and close air support missions.

The sustained air campaign delivers broader security gains beyond enemy casualties. By weakening terrorist networks and cutting off reinforcements, the operations enable ground troops to advance, reclaim territories, and stabilise vulnerable communities. Security reports indicate a noticeable reduction in attacks, lower morale among armed groups, and improved safety in several previously threatened areas.

In a separate briefing monitored by Mediaplusng.com, the NAF also records major successes in maritime and energy security, particularly in the Niger Delta. Precision air strikes destroy hundreds of illegal refining reservoirs, 126 storage tanks, and multiple boats used by oil thieves. These actions significantly reduce illicit oil activities, weaken criminal financing, and support Nigeria’s economic recovery through improved crude oil production.

Reacting to the achievements, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirms the NAF’s commitment to sustained pressure on all threats to national security. He says the results reflect improved intelligence targeting, better aircraft availability, enhanced crew training, and stronger coordination with other security agencies and ground forces.

Air Marshal Aneke attributes the operational gains to consistent government support under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing investments in modern aircraft, personnel welfare, training, and infrastructure. He notes that strong political will and strategic guidance continue to strengthen the Air Force’s readiness and combat effectiveness.

Looking ahead, the NAF assures Nigerians of intensified air operations in 2026, with strict adherence to rules of engagement and international humanitarian law. The Air Force maintains that there will be no safe haven for terrorists or criminal groups anywhere in the country, while urging citizens to support security agencies with timely and credible information.

The Nigerian Air Force reiterates that civilian protection remains central to its missions, as it continues to improve intelligence validation and targeting processes. Authorities encourage Nigerians to remain vigilant and confident in the Armed Forces’ resolve to restore lasting peace, stability, and national security.
