The Nigeria Police Force places the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit policy on hold nationwide following an interim court order restraining the action pending the determination of a substantive suit.
According to information obtained by Mediaplusng.com, the police had earlier announced plans to resume enforcement of the policy from January 2, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen public safety and internal security across the country.
However, the Force confirms that it is served with an interim order issued on December 17, 2025, in Suit No. HOR/FHR/M/31/2025, directing the police to suspend the enforcement pending further hearing or until the order is vacated.
In compliance with the court directive, and as reported by Mediaplusng.com, the Nigeria Police Force enters appearance in court, raises preliminary objections, and formally applies for the vacation of the interim order. The court adjourns the matter to January 20, 2026, for further proceedings.
The police leadership says the suspension of enforcement is strictly in line with constitutional provisions and respect for the rule of law, stressing that no nationwide enforcement of tinted glass permits will take place until the court gives a final decision.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, reassures Nigerians that the Force remains committed to protecting lives and property while operating within the boundaries of the law. He notes that the police will continue to rely on lawful and intelligence-driven strategies to address security challenges across the country.
The Force also assures members of the public that clear guidance will be issued once the court concludes hearing on the matter, urging citizens to remain calm and law-abiding as legal processes run their course.
