The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has welcomed the new year with visits to new mothers at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, describing 2026 as a year of “peace in abundance” and “prosperity in abundance” for Nigerians.

According to Mediaplusng.com, the First Lady was joined by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulieman-Ibrahim, and Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Hajia Mariya Mahmoud. During the visit, she officially welcomed the “First Baby of the Year,” a girl born at midnight to 26-year-old first-time mother Adakole Patience. She also celebrated Blessing Oragwu, who gave birth to triplets on December 29, 2025, after 13 years of marriage, presenting gifts to the family.

“The baby of the year is a girl, and I also visited the triplets born last month—two boys and a girl. The mother had waited 13 years, which is wonderful,” the First Lady said.

Mediaplusng.com reports that reflecting on the significance of the births, Senator Tinubu expressed gratitude for Nigerians who made it safely into the new year. She said, “In Yoruba land, they say girls come with ease. We believe this year will be great for our nation—peace in abundance, prosperity in abundance. We should be thankful for making it into 2026.”

The First Lady encouraged Nigerian women to embrace opportunities with faith and generosity. “Nigerian women are blessed and hardworking. Whatever they feel God has placed in their hearts, they should pursue it. Start small, and you will be amazed,” she said.

She added that 2026 should be a year of intentional giving. “If you want to prosper, sow into the lives of the less privileged. Be generous; giving should be intentional,” she advised, directing listeners to her podcast Daughters of Zelophehad for a fuller message.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s visit underscores her commitment to maternal and child welfare while promoting peace, prosperity, and empowerment as central themes for the nation in 2026.
