The Delta State Police Command records major successes in its renewed fight against crime, with the arrest of a drug suspect, a suspected cultist and armed robber, notorious motorcycle snatchers, and a murder suspect. The operations also lead to the recovery of a locally fabricated gun, live cartridges, dangerous weapons, and illicit drugs, as the Command intensifies intelligence-led policing across the state.
According to Mediaplusng.com, these breakthroughs come shortly after the assumption of duty of the new Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, and reflect a clear commitment to proactive patrols, rapid response, and improved public safety. The Command says the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to reassure residents and dismantle criminal networks operating in different parts of Delta State.
Cultist, Armed Robber Arrested with Gun and Ammunition
In one of the operations, police operatives attached to the Ekpan Division arrest a suspected cultist and armed robber during a confidence-building patrol. The incident occurs in the early hours of January 10, 2026, around Hausa Market in Ubeji, when officers observe a group of suspicious persons loitering in the area.
On sighting the police, the suspects attempt to flee. One of them, identified as Gift Ojulowo, a 30-year-old male resident of Ubeji, is apprehended after a brief chase. A search on him leads to the recovery of one locally fabricated gun and two live cartridges hidden in his trousers. During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confesses to being a member of the Aye Confraternity cult group. He remains in custody while investigation continues, as police intensify efforts to arrest other fleeing gang members.
Drug Suspect Arrested with 36 Bottles of Laughing Gas
In another operation, operatives of the Delta State Police Command’s Raiders Unit arrest a suspect for possession of illicit drugs, following credible intelligence. The arrest takes place on January 8, 2026, in a coordinated operation supervised by the Commander of the Raiders Unit.
The suspect, identified as Obi Onuigbi Ndubuoso, a 43-year-old male, is found in possession of thirty-six bottles of nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas.” The substance is believed to be part of an illegal distribution chain within the state. According to Mediaplusng.com, the suspect and the recovered exhibits are now in police custody, while investigators work to trace the source and possible distribution network of the illicit drugs.
Motorcycle Snatchers Arrested in Agbor
The police also record success against armed robbery in Agbor, where two notorious suspects known for snatching motorcycles are arrested after a discreet investigation. The operation follows a reported robbery incident in December 2025, which prompts sustained intelligence gathering by officers of the Agbor Division.
On January 4, 2026, at about 10:45 p.m., operatives arrest the suspects during a targeted operation. They are identified as Owakwe Chuks, 37, and Bright Moses, 32. Items recovered from them include a hammer allegedly used to injure victims, a knife, a face mask, a handset, and a face cap. Police say the suspects have been terrorising residents and commercial motorcyclists in Agbor and surrounding communities.
Murder Suspect Arrested in Ogwashi-Uku
In a separate development, detectives arrest a murder suspect in Ogwashi-Uku following a report of a fatal stabbing. The incident occurs in the early hours of January 8, when a 20-year-old male is reportedly stabbed to death while asleep near Poly Road, close to a filling station.
Following the report, police detectives move swiftly to the scene and arrest the suspect, identified as Aliyu Haman, also 20 years old. Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect and the victim are brothers. The weapon allegedly used in the crime is recovered, while the victim’s body is deposited at a mortuary for autopsy. The suspect remains in custody as investigation continues.
Police Reaffirm Commitment to Security
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, commends the officers involved in the various operations for their professionalism and dedication. He reassures residents that the Delta State Police Command remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property.
The Command urges members of the public to continue supporting security efforts by providing timely and credible information. Police authorities stress that intelligence-led policing, visible patrols, and community cooperation remain key to sustaining peace and reducing crime across Delta State.
