Vice President Kashim Shettima commissions resettlement houses and key community projects in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State, two years after the 2023 military airstrike, as the Federal Government reiterates its commitment to supporting communities affected by conflict and disasters.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Vice President Shettima says the intervention reflects the Federal Government’s resolve to heal wounds, restore livelihoods, and ensure that affected citizens are not abandoned, according to Mediaplusng.com.
The Vice President notes that the Tudun Biri incident remains a painful chapter, but stresses that government actions must go beyond condolences to concrete steps that rebuild trust, dignity, and hope for victims and their families.
As reported by Mediaplusng.com, the newly commissioned projects include modern resettlement houses, basic infrastructure, and community facilities designed to provide safe shelter and improve living conditions for displaced residents.
Shettima explains that the projects form part of a broader post-disaster response framework aimed at rehabilitation, compensation, and sustainable recovery for communities impacted by security operations, natural disasters, and violent conflicts across the country.
He assures residents that the Federal Government remains committed to learning from past mistakes, strengthening intelligence coordination, and improving operational procedures to prevent a recurrence of such tragic incidents.
The Vice President also reaffirms the administration’s support for victims through humanitarian assistance, social welfare programmes, and community-based development initiatives that promote peace and resilience.
Community leaders in Tudun Biri welcome the intervention, describing it as a significant step toward restoring normalcy and addressing the long-term effects of the airstrike on families who lost loved ones, homes, and means of livelihood.
They commend the Federal Government for fulfilling its promise to return to the community with tangible support, while calling for sustained engagement and economic empowerment programmes.
Government officials at the event emphasise that the resettlement effort aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which prioritises inclusive development, social justice, and protection of vulnerable populations.
Security agencies also pledge continued collaboration with local communities to improve communication, early warning mechanisms, and civilian protection during security operations.
The commissioning ceremony concludes with renewed calls for unity, healing, and cooperation, as residents express cautious optimism that the intervention will help Tudun Biri recover fully and move forward after years of pain and uncertainty.
The Federal Government says similar post-conflict and post-disaster interventions will continue nationwide to ensure affected communities receive timely support, lasting infrastructure, and pathways to sustainable development.
