The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, commissions the Renewed Hope Secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, in a high-profile ceremony earlier today. Mediaplusng.com reports that Wike commended Desmond Akawor, coordinator of the Renewed Hope political movement in the state, for his efforts in mobilizing support while reiterating that Rivers State remains a stronghold where opposition parties struggle to operate.
During the event, Wike also issued a stern warning to those he accuses of supporting betrayal, asserting that betrayal will eventually come to them. Mediaplusng.com notes that the opening attracted a large crowd of Renewed Hope members eager to witness the formal inauguration of the facility.
The ceremony saw Wike arriving in a Maybach, greeted by supporters, before cutting the tape to officially open the secretariat. Akawor, in his remarks, praised Wike’s backing of the movement and pledged the group’s commitment to delivering President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Wike responded by lauding Akawor and his team, describing Rivers State as an enviable political base while criticizing those aligned with betrayers. “Rivers State is the envy of the nation. Those who support betrayal will face its consequences,” he said.
On the sidelines, local political leaders, including the Chairman of Khana LGA and the House of Representatives member for Khana/Gokana constituency, pledged to spread the Renewed Hope message across the state.
The commissioning of the secretariat reflects Wike’s strategic effort to consolidate his political base and strengthen grassroots support for the 2027 presidential election. The event underscores his influence in the South-South region and the early mobilization of supporters for President Tinubu’s reelection bid.
Observers note that such political infrastructure initiatives are key to enhancing party organization, voter engagement, and sustaining loyalty among regional supporters ahead of national elections.
The Renewed Hope Secretariat will serve as a hub for political coordination, campaign planning, and grassroots mobilization throughout Rivers State, ensuring sustained advocacy for the movement’s objectives.
