The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Bayo Ojulari, leads a high-level delegation of executives on a strategic visit to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, reinforcing collaboration between Nigeria’s state oil company and the Dangote Group.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, receives Ojulari and senior NNPC officials at the refinery complex during an inspection tour aimed at strengthening energy sector partnerships and boosting domestic refining capacity.
Images shared by the Dangote Group show the NNPC GCEO inspecting critical sections of the refinery alongside Dangote and other top executives. The visit underscores ongoing cooperation between both entities in advancing Nigeria’s downstream petroleum and petrochemical development.
Mediaplusng.com reports that the engagement comes weeks after Dangote Industries Limited signs gas supply agreements with NNPC for three of its subsidiaries, a move seen as a major step toward ensuring steady feedstock supply and operational efficiency at the refinery.
Industry analysts describe the visit as strategically significant, noting that enhanced collaboration between NNPC and the Dangote Refinery could help stabilize fuel supply, reduce import dependence, and strengthen Nigeria’s energy security framework.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the refinery tour also follows earlier remarks by Ojulari in November 2025, when he indicates that NNPC is working toward increasing its equity stake in the Dangote Refinery from 7.2 percent to 20 percent, signaling deeper institutional alignment.
Energy sector observers say expanding NNPC’s stake in the refinery could further integrate public and private sector efforts in refining and distribution. They add that such collaboration may accelerate Nigeria’s transition toward self-sufficiency in refined petroleum products.
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery, one of the largest single-train refineries in the world, is designed to process hundreds of thousands of barrels of crude oil per day. Experts say its full operational capacity has the potential to transform Nigeria into a net exporter of refined products while supporting petrochemical industries.
Stakeholders highlight that partnerships between major industry players remain critical as Nigeria navigates evolving global energy dynamics, fluctuating crude prices, and domestic supply challenges.
As discussions continue between NNPC and Dangote Industries, the latest visit signals sustained efforts to deepen cooperation, expand refining capacity, and enhance long-term energy infrastructure development in Nigeria.
