The Delta State Police Command is intensifying its crackdown on criminal activities, recording major successes after coordinated raids across multiple locations in Warri, Uvwie, Jeddo, and Ughelli, leading to the arrest of over 270 suspects and recovery of illicit drugs.

The large-scale operation follows intelligence-led policing strategies targeting identified black spots and criminal hideouts across the state. According to Mediaplusng.com, the raids mark a significant step in ongoing efforts to dismantle networks involved in drug trafficking and other criminal activities.

Police authorities say the raids are part of sustained efforts to restore law and order, particularly in areas known for high levels of criminal activity and drug abuse.

On March 25, 2026, operatives led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, deploy tactical teams drawn from specialized units to conduct targeted operations across Warri South, Uvwie, and Okpe Local Government Areas.

The operation is based on credible intelligence gathered by the State Intelligence Department, focusing on hotspots including Ugbrumu and Jeddo communities, where criminal elements are believed to operate.

During the initial phase, police arrest 59 suspects, including 51 males and 8 females, at various locations identified as criminal hideouts, including a bush bar known for illicit activities.

Authorities reveal that several hotels raided are operating as brothels, providing shelter for suspected criminals and serving as bases for illegal operations.

Some of those arrested are suspected cultists already under police surveillance, highlighting the strategic nature of the operation.

Exhibits seized during the raid include substances suspected to be codeine, crack cocaine, cannabis variants known locally as “loud” and “colos,” as well as Indian hemp.

On March 26, 2026, police launch a second phase of the crackdown, extending operations to Ughelli town with a renewed focus on drug-related hotspots.

Operatives from the Crack Squad, Rapid Response Squad, and Buffalo Squad carry out aggressive raids on locations identified through intelligence reports.

Key locations raided include hotels and guest houses along the Ughelli–Patani Expressway, widely suspected to be hubs for illegal drug distribution and criminal coordination.

The second phase results in the arrest of 213 additional suspects, bringing the total number of apprehended individuals to over 270 across both operations.

Authorities note that many of the establishments raided are being used as safe havens for criminal elements, further complicating efforts to combat organized crime.

Recovered items include large quantities of substances suspected to be Canadian loud, CSC syrup, tramadol, swinol, and Indian hemp, indicating a widespread network of illicit drug activities.

According to Mediaplusng.com, all suspects and recovered exhibits are transferred to relevant police divisions for detailed investigation, profiling, and possible prosecution.

Police confirm that the Divisional Police Officer in Ughelli, along with specialized units including the Rapid Response Squad and CP Special Assignment Team, are handling the cases.

The Commissioner of Police emphasizes that all suspects found culpable will face prosecution in accordance with the law.

Authorities reiterate their commitment to sustaining similar operations across other parts of the state, including Sapele and surrounding communities.

The police say the objective remains the dismantling of criminal networks, reduction of drug-related crimes, and improvement of public safety.

Residents are encouraged to support law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information that can aid crime prevention and detection.

The Delta State Police Command maintains that intelligence-driven operations will remain a key strategy in tackling crime and ensuring safer communities.

As the crackdown continues, observers say the outcome of these operations could significantly impact crime rates and strengthen law enforcement presence across Delta State.
