Tinubu Alters Trip, Begins State Tour

Reading Time: 2 minutes

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is adjusting his travel schedule as he begins a multi-state visit across Nigeria, prioritising national concerns and key development engagements.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the President postpones his earlier planned trip to Iperu in Ogun State, where he is expected to flag off operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport.
Instead of Ogun State, President Tinubu is now heading to Jos, the Plateau State capital, to commiserate with the government and people following recent gun attacks that result in the loss of lives.
The President’s presence in Plateau State is aimed at showing solidarity with affected communities and reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to security and stability.
During the visit, he is expected to interact with state officials, community leaders, and security agencies as part of efforts to address the situation and restore calm.
According to Mediaplusng.com, the Jos visit marks the first leg of a broader four-state tour that combines governance, infrastructure development, and national unity engagements.
From Plateau State, President Tinubu proceeds to Lagos State, where he observes the Good Friday solemnity in line with the Christian calendar.
The Lagos stop also provides an opportunity for the President to engage with ongoing development initiatives and interact with stakeholders within the state.
On Saturday, April 4, the President travels to Ogun State to commission the Gateway International Cargo Airport, a major infrastructure project designed to enhance trade, logistics, and economic growth.
The President is also set to inaugurate two commercial aircraft dedicated to cargo operations, expected to strengthen import and export activities within the region.
In addition, he commissions the new Federal Operations Unit facility of the Nigerian Customs Service, alongside operational vehicles aimed at improving enforcement and trade facilitation.
After engagements in Ogun State, the President returns to Lagos to continue the Easter holiday period while participating in further official duties.
He is expected to commission several landmark projects undertaken by the Lagos State Government, including the Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge and the Lagos State Geographic Information System building.
Other projects lined up for commissioning include a multi-agency complex named after the President, as well as a newly completed school complex aimed at improving educational infrastructure.
These projects reflect ongoing efforts to expand urban infrastructure, enhance public service delivery, and support economic development in Lagos State.
Before returning to Abuja, President Tinubu is scheduled to visit Bayelsa State on April 10, where he will commission projects completed by the state government.
The Bayelsa visit further reinforces the administration’s focus on inclusive development and collaboration with sub-national governments.
The President’s multi-state tour highlights a combination of crisis response, infrastructure development, and political engagement across different regions of the country.
The adjustment of the Ogun trip in favour of the Plateau visit reflects a responsive leadership approach to emerging national issues.
Attention remains on the outcomes of the engagements, particularly in areas of security reassurance, economic development, and intergovernmental collaboration.
The four-state visit is expected to shape discussions around governance priorities, national unity, and development strategies in the weeks ahead.
