President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to offer heartfelt prayers and support for the nation’s security forces, especially those battling terrorism and banditry across the country. Speaking after observing the Eid-al-Adha prayers at the Eid Ground in Dodan Barracks, Lagos, the President emphasized the importance of unity, sacrifice, and compassion during the holy season.
In his address to journalists, President Tinubu stressed the need to uphold the spirit of Eid by caring for vulnerable citizens and standing in solidarity with the military and other security agencies.
> “This is a time of sacrifice and compassion. We must give to the less privileged, support our neighbors, and pray fervently for our troops who are on the frontlines, making great sacrifices for our safety,” Tinubu said.
The President added that responsible citizenship involves praying for national peace and showing genuine love to fellow Nigerians, regardless of their background.
At the prayer session, the Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Suleiman Oluwatoyin Abu-Nola, delivered a sermon emphasizing the essence of sacrifice, drawing from the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham). He called on Muslims to prioritize national unity, peace, and service to humanity.
> “True devotion lies in serving Allah and making sacrifices that benefit our families, communities, and the nation. We must rise above tribalism and work together to build a better Nigeria,” the Chief Imam noted.
