In a major breakthrough against insurgency in Nigeria’s North-East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have neutralized a notorious Boko Haram/ISWAP commander, Malam Jidda, along with several other terrorists during a coordinated military assault in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation, which took place on June 9, 2025, was supported by precision airstrikes from the Nigerian Air Force. Troops launched a ground and aerial offensive targeting terrorist hideouts in Ngazalgana, leading to the elimination of Malam Jidda—who served as the Ameer of Ngorgore and Malumti villages—alongside numerous fighters. The terrorists were overpowered by superior firepower, with survivors fleeing with injuries.
In a related engagement in the Timbuktu Triangle, OPHK forces carried out a snap ambush, killing more insurgents and forcing others to retreat. Continued clearance operations in the Mallamfatori area of Abadam LGA led to the discovery of additional terrorist bodies and a cache of weapons.
Weapons and equipment recovered include:
AK-47 rifles and loaded magazines
Rocket-propelled grenade tubes
Hand grenades
Motorcycles used for insurgent mobility
Communication devices and other military-grade items
This renewed offensive highlights the growing success of Nigeria’s counterterrorism campaign in the North-East, demonstrating Operation Hadin Kai’s commitment to eradicating Boko Haram and ISWAP threats and restoring long-term peace to affected communities.
